Long-term vision meeting long-term needs.
Haitian Christians have a vision for rebuilding their country under God's hand in the years to come. Adventures In Missions is supporting their vision by making long-term investments of people and resources. In January and February 2010, we purchased and delivered tens of thousands of dollars worth of food and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medicines to those in need. As work continues, we will assist the development of new communities and the growth of the body of Christ in Haiti.
Our many Haitian pastor friends are unified in belief that God is using the Jan. 12 earthquake disaster to revive His Church in their country. Isaiah 58 tells us, "Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings." AIM has created the Isaiah 58 Project to organize our efforts to support these pastors' vision. By strategically connecting American families, communities and churches with Haitian communities and churches, we will participate in the physical and spiritual restoration of a nation.
AIM is establishing a new missions base in Port-au-Prince to centralize our growing staff and many volunteers. From there, we will branch out to serve hundreds of church-to-church partnerships we've formed throughout Haiti. We need volunteers to serve for any length of time between a week and six months to coordinate relief efforts, foster pastoral relationships, and develop communities through mission projects.
