"Real Life" - Discipleship and Ministry Training

A program that uses practical training and experience
to develop in young adults the passion
to seek God and serve Him in real life.

Real Life is a discipleship and ministry training program aimed at young adults ages 18 - 22 years old. It targets those with a sincere desire to grow deeper in their relationship with God and who are committed to serving Him with their whole lives. It provides an environment where you seek God as you minister to the world. Through creative teaching, training, discipleship, ministry experience, and adventure, we desire to create in you a passion for seeking and serving God in “real life.” The program is designed to teach and train, but more importantly to provide opportunities for you to put into practice the things you’re learning. Keeping things “real” and “practical” is key to the Real Life program.

Because of the “hands on” nature of the program, it is important that Real Life participants are responsible and motivated to complete tasks and take advantage of the opportunities put in front of them. Real Life offers a unique opportunity for young adults to experience a wide variety of ministries, explore the gifts and abilities God has given them, see God at work in the “everyday stuff” of life, and through all of this get a better grasp on where God may be calling them in life.

Our desire is that  as a Real Life participant, you will:
1. Have the opportunity to grow daily in your relationship with Christ.
You will have an abundance of opportunities to go to a deeper level in your relationship with God through Bible study, worship, and prayer in both an individual and corporate setting. High priority is given to creating an atmosphere where time to do these things is available in a way you may never have the chance to experience again. Many different spiritual disciplines are explored.
2. Discover “who you are” and where you fit in the Body of Christ.
You will discover more of who you are as you explore all it means to be a child of God, and how your unique gifts and personality can help build up the Body of Christ. As your gifts and abilities are discovered, hands on opportunities to put them into practice will give you a clearer picture of where you fit in the Body of Christ. A willingness to live, learn, and minister together as a team is a key component in learning about “Body Life.”
3. Learn to share your faith and minister to others.
We’re out to do more than just impart information and methods; our desire is to get you into the community and to share Christ in practical and effective ways. Ministries will vary depending on the team’s location, but will include working with a wide variety of age groups and settings. There will be planned ministry opportunities, and also the opportunity to create, plan, and carry out ministries as a team. We’ll take deliberate steps to share Christ through everyday opportunities, and also have the chance to see God work through “extreme” ministry opportunities in some “out of the ordinary” places. Listening to God’s leading will be the over-riding priority in ministry.
4. Seek God for your “next step” in life.
Times of one-on-one discipleship will help you “pull together” all your learning and experience and process how those things transfer back to “real life” at home. You will prayerfully seek God for where He may be calling you in the future. As plans are fleshed out, you will have the chance to research future opportunities and put together a plan of action in reaching your goals as you return home.
